Keynote Session Speaker: Bill Grace, Ph.D.

Leadership in Health Improvement:
Courageous Commitment to the Common Good

Dr. Bill Grace is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Ethical Leadership, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization that promotes leadership development and collaborative problem solving. He is a leadership educator, speaker, consultant and architect of ideas.

Formerly a leadership development professor and administrator at Seattle University, Dr. Grace developed the Four-V Model of Ethical Leadership Development, which includes the components of Values, Vision, Voice, and Virtue, that has become the basis for the Center's work. This model inspires the civic responsibility and effective human relations necessary for the 21st century.

Bill's work focuses on ethical leadership, the importance of moral responsibility and working toward the common good for individuals and organizations. He is interested in the link between a person's capacity for moral reasoning and their commitment to moral action.

Bill presents and writes extensively on leadership development, service learning, and values development. He has taught hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals in both the public and private sectors including educational institutions, government organizations, corporations, civic groups and foundations. Currently Bill presents an original, nationally sought after work on the spirituality of leadership.

A recipient of a 1998 Evergreen Award for outstanding contributions to Washington State, Dr. Grace holds a M.S. from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University; his areas of study include Human Development.

His volunteer involvement has included leadership roles in the Church Council of Greater Seattle, the Washington Commission for Service Learning, and the Washington State Office of Volunteerism.
