The Association is guided by a national Advisory Council representative of the professional roles, organizations, and geographic regions of the members at large. Council members serve three year terms, helping to ensure ACHI meets the needs of members and the field.

Michael Bilton

Michael co-founded and leads the Association for Community Health Improvement (ACHI) of the American Hospital Association. ACHI delivers education, professional development, peer networking, and practical tools to help expand knowledge and enhance performance in community health, community benefit, and healthy communities.
Michael was formerly Director of Community Health Programs and Vice President of Education for the American Hospital Association's Health Research and Educational Trust. At the Healthcare Forum in San Francisco, he directed national healthy communities projects focused on achieving measurable outcomes. He got his start with a collaborative ambulatory care venture of the Chicago Department of Public Health, Cook County Bureau of Health Services, Illinois Primary Health Care Association, and local hospitals.
Michael has an M.A. in Health Policy and Administration and a B.A. in Sociology.
Dawn Haglund
Education and Program Development Manager

Dawn is ACHI's Education and Program Development Manager. She is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of educational offerings and related member programs, including the annual conference, audio/web conferences, workshops, and e-learning initiatives.
Prior to joining ACHI, Dawn was Education Program Manager at the American Hospital Association's Health Research & Educational Trust. Primarily serving HRET's Cultural Competence Leadership Fellowship and Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship, she planned and managed professional meetings, produced educational modules, and performed operations and marketing responsibilities. She also trained hospital staff on the HRET Disparities Toolkit and participated in educational program development around health equity and environmental sustainability in health care.
Dawn has a B.A. in Business and a M.A. in Religion.
